Swedish Slöjd Knife with Birchbark Sheath
In the spoon carving and slöjd world, Jögge Sundqvist’s knives and sheaths are legendary. Anyone who has seen Jögge’s presentations and demonstrations is immediately drawn to his knives, knife boxes, tool handles and other fittings. His slöjd knives usually feature a highly-personalized handle, both in its form and its decoration. In this class, students will learn how to outfit a Moraknife blade with a hand-carved handle, which can then be carved and painted to suit. For the sheath, birch bark is cut, folded and tied with birch roots.
Make a Pegboard Knob June 10, 2017 Morning. 3 hr session
Jögge will use the process of making this fun, useful item as a way of teaching essential Swedish knifegrasps.
Scandinavian Pattern Carving June 11, 2017 Morning 3 hr session
Chipcarving in a free folkart way inspired by old traditional patterns as the Nailcut, shallow relief carving, lines and curves and patterns, patterns, patterns.
Coupled with Jögge’s slideshow presentation the previous afternoon, this hands-on workshop presents a great introductory focus on the topic..
